Glass making workshop Information
Thank you for booking onto a glass workshop, I hope you will enjoy the experience making your own kiln formed glass.
I will provide everything you need to create your pieces on the day but you are welcome to bring any inspiration, ideas and imagery along with you.
I am looking forward to sharing glass making processes with you and seeing what lovely pieces you make!
Getting here
The workshop is taking place at Manchester Craft and Design Centre (MCDC) in our studio teaching space, right next to our studio: number 10. Look out for a big grey circle and on the right of the main entrance, our studio is up a couple of steps and is next to the exhibition area. If you aren’t familiar with the centre please see the map and directions for reference. The centre address is 17 Oak Street, Northern Quarter, Manchester, M4 5JD.
On the day
I like to give us as much time as possible so I ask that you arrive about 10 minutes before the start time of the class if you can, so we are ready to go. The building is open to the public from 10-5.30pm Monday to Saturday so you are welcome to look around the centre before or after your class.
Half day sessions don’t have an official break time, but you are free to take a break whenever you need.
Refreshments will be provided, tea, coffee and biscuits including milk alternatives,
Please inform me if you have any allergies or specific requirements.
What to wear
You are likely to get a bit messy working with glass. We will be using enamels which behave much like printing ink and can stain clothing. Aprons will be provided, and safety equipment where necessary, though I would recommend not wearing your best clothes. I would also suggest wrapping up warm in the winter months as the old Victorian building gets chilly!
Firing and collection
Your pieces will be fired in the kiln at my studio within two to three weeks of the workshop. You will receive a confirmation email when they are ready for posting or to be collected. Postage can be paid for on the day of the workshop if you decide to have them delivered.
If you have any questions before the workshop contact me helentiffanyglass@gmail.com
On the day, any problems call me on: 07792513331
If you are running late and not going to make the official start time try and let me know if you can,
I can catch you up when you arrive!
